| GONGTHUNG DRUBDEY
Gongthung is located in the middle of the Yangnyer village facing Trashigang Dzong. When the monastery was first founded, there were many ruins of deserted houses. The people had run away to Pema Koe in Tibet.
In 2001, Trashigang Lam Neten Singye Rinchen and H.E. Gyeltshen Trulku established the Drubdey. When H.E. Gyeltshen Trulku first arrived in the village, there prevailed a belief that people did not dare visit this place even during the day time as this place was haunted by evil spirits. But after the establishment of the Drubdey, it has become one of the biggest Drubdeys in the region today and there is no sign of any evil spirits whatsoever.
The Drubdey houses a monastery and deity Mahakala’s Goenkhang. There are also places of retreat for about 16 people, a hostel, and a guest house. This place is a center of practice of nine Kerim and five dzogrim. This place is named as Togden Choeling.
The place is well connected with road and is supported by the royal government.
A huge mandala of 22 feet height and 13 feet length is under construction at this place and is expected to be completed by early 2009. Once it is completed, people from across the world will have opportunity to pay visit this place.
